Traveling with your baby spells fun and enjoyment. But sometimes, it can be nerve-racking too, especially if it’s your first time to travel with your little one. Careful and rigid planning is important. Below are some important tips to help you achieve a safe, enjoyable and worry-free travel.Plan ahead of time – Planning ahead of time is recommended to avoid cramming up and in turn, forgetting and leaving some important things behind. Careful plan should be made on the whereabouts of your destination, the activities that you have in mind when on vacation, and the essential things that you need to bring.Prepare your child – Preparing your little one for the much-awaited travel is a must. Always make sure that your baby is in good condition and top shape physically to avoid unnecessary problems during your period of travel. Prepare him also emotionally and mentally, so as to avoid sudden behavioral changes.Be a role model for your kids – Your children always look up to you every moment of their learning years. Be prepared yourself for the travel. Don’t get nervous. Be positive about your trip. Chances are, your children will do the same with what they have seen in you. If you are nervous, they get nervous too. So watch out for your mental and emotional stability when traveling.Take breaks – If you are traveling long-distance trips, better take a break every 2 hours to have diaper change, feeding time and going to the bathroom. Keep your baby calm and soothed while traveling – In order to achieve this, bring some comforting items for your baby, like baby blankets and soft, snuggly baby toys for him to cuddle during your trip. This will help in releasing the tension and anxiety that the baby might be feeling.Be sure to pack your baby’s essentials – Be sure to bring along enough clothes, baby care essentials, bathing essentials and medicines. Bring also blankets and protective gears for the sudden change of the weather.Don’t forget also to bring car seat, lightweight stroller and a small bathing tub (for young babies). Of course, diapers and formula milk should not be forgotten. Plastic bags for soiled linens and diapers are also recommended.Bring also baby’s toys, books and musical cd’s for added enjoyment during your travel. And of course, don’t forget to bring enough foods (snacks, water, juice and healthy non- perishable foods).Give the baby something that he is familiar with – Babies are so used to the familiarity and the comfort of their home, that their moods are so unpredictable when you travel away from home. Children take several days to adjust, so just be patient with them. Bring along some familiar things so that they may still feel that they are just close to their home. Pack surprises during travel periods – This will ensure that they will not be bored with the long ride. Bring along toys, activity books and musical cd’s. Sing along some of your favorite songs together to help diminish the stress usually caused by long periods of travel.Start and end your day early – Children are usually at their best in the mornings; so travel, explore and sightsee during that period. Reserve the afternoon for family bonding, and the evening for relaxing.  Children are more likely to throw tantrums if their activity cycle is disturbed.
