Insider Travel Tip Hawaii

Ive got a hot Hawaii travel tip for you.

If youve never been to the Big Island of Hawaii, youve just got to go and see it for yourself.

There are two distinct sides of the island, each with its own unique flavour and topography.

The first time we went to Hawaii, in the late 1970s, we stayed for two nights in a hotel in Hilo and then rented a motor home for the remainder of the two weeks there.

It was a great way to go.

Wed never been to Hawaii and had no idea of where we would want to spend time. The purpose of the motor home was to allow us to travel all around the island seeing all the sights, beaches and deciding where we would like to visit on future trips.

Before going on the trip, we hadnt done any research and we traveled across the northern part of the island, through the Parker Ranch. (its huge and its just one great big pasture)

The next thing we came upon were cactus! What? Cactus on the island of Hawaii? The Kona side of the island is desert like and the lava thats strewn around makes it look like youre on the moon.

It was a total surprise to us.

We stayed on the Kona side a few days enjoying the most perfect weather you could ask for along with getting to know some of the Hawaiian people.

It was a wonderful experience seeing Black Sand Beach, Green Sand Beach and eating breakfast at the Volcano House. (that was our first taste of the wonderful Hawaiian Sweet Bread that weve grown to love so much)

When we turned in the motor home and flew off to spend the rest of the vacation in hotels, we thought this would be a great Hawaii travel tip to pass along to others.

Rent a motor home and see all you can take in during your first trip so youll know where you really want to spend time the next time you return…and you will return, I guarantee it./pbr

5 Tips to Planning Your Holiday Travel With Your Tax Strategy in Mind

14 Dec

Author: Thomas Wheelwrightbr
Source: ezinearticles.combr
br
With the holidays right around the corner, many of us are making holiday travel plans. As you are making your holiday travel plans, identify opportunities to integrate your holiday travel plans with your tax strategy – legally!

Tip #1

Spend more than 50% of your time during each 8-hour day on business activities and you can deduct 100% of your travel expenses. This means you can deduct all of your travel expenses if you conduct business from 8 AM to 1 PM every day, and then take the rest of the day off to visit with family and friends.

Tip #2

Travel expenses for your spouse and your children are 100% deductible if they are involved in your business and spend more than 50% of each day on business activities.

Tip #3

Create a reason that is great for your business to travel to that location. This is my favorite tip because I find when I create a great business reason to travel, my business benefits in a way that it wouldnt have without the travel.

I have many friends and family members in Utah that I like to visit as often as I can. I decided to take a business trip there a few years ago to explore the possible expansion of my rental real estate business into Utah. I spent more than 50% of each day on business activities and then I also had some personal time to visit with friends and family. My rental real estate business in Utah has doubled since then and my regular travel there is a legitimate business expense!

Tip #4

If its personal – treat it as personal. If one of your goals for a particular trip is to take a break from business, then treat that trip as personal. Trying to claim that as business travel could draw a lot of scrutiny to your legitimate travel expenses. Or if your spouse and children dont participate in the business, treat their portion of the travel expenses as personal – trying to deduct their expenses could jeopardize your portion that is legitimate.

Tip #5

Travel outside of the U.S. has a completely different set of rules. Be sure to discuss this with your tax coach before you travel.

Travel is one of my favorite deductions because it is one of those expenses that most of us already have, and when planned properly, it gives us the opportunity to increase our businesss bottom line while decreasing our tax liability.

Whats The Future Of Air Travel?

13 Dec

Author: Semperbr
Source: articledashboard.combr
br
Air travel is great when it works, when it doesnt, its a nightmare. It is safe for infants, even newborns and no matter where youre going, it seems air travel is an essential part of your trip. One reason why there is such fast growth is that air travel was under-priced until higher fuel prices came along but yet demand for air travel is at its highest levels since 9/11. It is governed by International, European and Domestic legislation and even private corporate air travel is now accessible. Traveling by air is the fastest way to travel but it is still very tiresome but is frequently the most practical method of covering the large distances between sights around the world. A century after the very first flight, air travel is no longer a miracle, its something we all now take for granted. Commercial air travel is a comfortable, speedy and a safe means of transport like buses in the sky.

This pattern is not seen for all airlines in all regions. Aloha Airlines received the fewest complaints for any airlines recently. Different airlines have different policies but they all make them as safe and profitable as possible. When it comes to prices now a days, the best deals are offered by Aeroflot, Quantas Airlines, Japan Airlines and Southwest Airlines. More and more airlines are cutting out a lot of their business class air travel and sticking with just coach and first class flights because business travel is way down. Some airlines are better than others at providing a quality air travel experience but there are so many flights to chose from. Thats why the member airlines of the Air Transport Association have set forth their commitment to improving air travel and making it as safe as can be.

With the geography of aviation and airports, air travel is a fascinating subject since it involves the immediate movement of people around the globe. Canadas new government announces increased security measures for airports and air travel. European airports are handling the second largest air travel market in the world and are talking positively about their future. Whether on a domestic or a multinational trip, airports really can save you money. All airports in the United States are certainly focused on optimizing safety because millions of people are moving through our airports every day of the week.

Be smart while you travel: Make sure you follow travel safety tips while you are on your trip. The Airport Authority always offers tips for travelers and you should always follow them for smooth traveling.

Air travel is still growing and the key to successful air travel is planning, preparation and communication because it is such big business and can easily become a nightmare.

The Secret to Safely Traveling With Birds

12 Dec

Author: David B Weberbr
Source: ezinearticles.combr
br
Traveling with your bird can be a fun and rewarding experience for you and your bird. Traveling with your bird can also be easy if you follow the guidelines set out in this article.

Traveling In an Automobile

Who wants to go for a ride? If your bird is anything like mine, she loves to hear that question. Going for a ride can be fun and safe if you follow the guidelines of this article. Without making the process sound too technical, there are three distinct stages of travel that you should consider. Those three stages are the Preparation Stage, Travel Stage, and Arrival Stage.

Preparing to Travel With Your Bird by Automobile

You may have a hundred things to plan for before your journey especially on a long trip. However, adding a couple more considerations to allow your bird to go with you will be well worth your time and your bird will thank you.

There are three simple things to consider when preparing for your journey – Food, Water, and Shelter. Simple enough right?

Taking enough food to last the journey is obviously a major consideration. If you are running down to the grocery store then you can forget about this consideration. For longer trips, it is a good idea to make sure your bird has food PRIOR to your journey because your bird probably will not be interested in eating during any short trip. It most likely wont be interested in eating because itll be distracted and/or afraid because of its new surroundings. Providing nutrition prior to travel will also help the birds body cope with any travel related stress.

However, if there is a possibility of the trip being extended or the possibility of being stranded away from home (snow, car malfunction, etc) you will still want to make contingency plans. Just take a couple days supply of food, and place it in a Tupperware bowl, or a sealed baggie depending on how much food will be required. Toss it in the automobile and youll have it just in case of emergency. The type of food that you take depends mostly on your birds normal diet. If your bird will eat pellet food then your food preparation is very simple. If your birds diet consists only of fruit and vegetables then your preparation time may take longer. Fruit will generally last a couple days if you wait until feeding time to cut/chop/dice it and most vegetables will also last a couple days. Taking the time to prepare food for your bird will be very beneficial to your mental well being and your birds physical well being just in case something goes wrong.

Water is another important thing to consider when preparing for your journey. Much like food, it may or may not be needed depending on the length of your journey. However, just like preparing food in case of an emergency, carrying in a little water is simple and may be very beneficial if something goes wrong which unexpectedly extends your journey. Usually a small bottle of water is all that is required for most journeys. Adding another bottle for longer journeys or in case of an unexpected emergency is easy and may turn out to be beneficial to you and your bird. Fruits and vegetables high in water content provide another means to keep your bird hydrated during travel. Depending on your bird, sometimes theyre more likely to eat an apple slice, grape, orange slice or other food which will provide them with the water necessary to keep them hydrated.

It is a good idea to make sure your bird has water PRIOR to your journey because most likely, your bird will not be interested in drinking during a short trip anyway. It most likely wont be interesting in drinking because it will be distracted and/or afraid because of its new surroundings. Providing water prior to travel will also help the birds body cope with any travel related stress.

Food and Water preparation usually are very simple because we provide our birds with food and water several times a day. Providing for shelter during travel isnt as common but it can also be very simple. Commercially available carriers for birds are everywhere (online, local pet stores, etc). It is also very simple to convert a small cat or dog carrier into a bird carrier. These can be found at garage and yard sales and usually at very reasonable prices. It is very simple to add a perch to a dog or cat carrier. For plastic rigid carriers, a wooden dowel can be screwed into the carrier using two screws through the side of the carrier into the wooden dowel. For metal carriers, a perch from the birds cage can be attached inside the carrier just like it is attached to the birds cage.

Whether youre purchasing a carrier or converting one, there are a couple things to consider. The traveling container should be;

Large enough for the bird to stretch its wings but it isnt necessary for it to be large enough to fly inside.
It should have openings in it large enough to provide good ventilation. Having ventilation on at least two (2) sides should be sufficient. Ideally, the holes should be large enough for you to stick your fingers inside the cage to give your bird reassuring neck rubs.
It should have openings in it for you to see inside to periodically check to make sure that your bird is ok.
It should have containers inside it to place food and water.
It should have a perch inside it for the bird to stand on.
It should have a handle on it or another means to carry it and to strap it into your automobile seat belts.

Depending on how familiar your bird is with the carrier, you may need to prepare your bird for the carrier. Ideally, you should start this process a couple weeks prior to your departure date. This will allow sufficient time for your bird to get used to the carrier. You can start by letting your bird explore the outside of the carrier with the door open. Eventually your bird will explore the inside of the carrier. You may entice it with a favorite toy or treat. Eventually and gradually, your bird will feel more at ease around and in the carrier. This procedure should be done as far in advance as possible to your departure date in order to give your bird plenty time to get acquainted with the carrier.

To prepare the carrier for travel, all you have to do to the carrier is to put some bedding in the bottom of it such as paper, paper-towels or other suitable bedding and its ready to go. On long flights, a favorite toy may be added to the carrier to help distract and amuse your bird during the trip.

One final consideration for your trip should be to include a basic first-aid kit. Though some might find that this is going too far, it is a simple precaution and it takes very little space but may be very rewarding if it is needed.

Here is a short-list summary of the preparation need to take your bird on a journey with you in your automobile.

Feed water your bird prior to traveling.
Purchase or make a suitable carrier and place bedding into it.
Take enough food water with you in case of emergency.
Pack a simple first-aid kit.

Its that simple. This literally takes minutes to prepare for and your bird will thank you for it in the long run.

Traveling With Your Bird in an Automobile

So youve spent the time to prepare for the journey and now its time to go. What do you do now? Theres really not much to do at this point. Just place your bird in the carrier and put it in the car. The most important thing to do is to strap the carrier into your seatbelt system. This will be critical in the case of an emergency but more importantly it will stabilize the carrier and create a much smoother ride for your bird. This will prevent the carrier from rolling, slipping, and sliding as you start, turn and stop the automobile. It is critical that you disable the air-bag if strapping the carrier into a seat with an airbag. Most automobiles either automatically disable the airbag or you can do it manually. If disabling the airbag isnt an option, place the carrier in the back seat where there arent airbags.

Arriving at Your Destination in an Automobile

So youve spent the time preparing for the journey, youve finally finished your journey and you arrive at your destination. Now what? Hopefully youve read this article and prepared for your arrival because this part of the process is often overlooked. We are usually so excited and/or worried about preparing and traveling that we forget to think ahead to our actual arrival. Here are some thoughts and tips about your destination that you should consider before arriving.

Does your destination allow birds? You should call ahead to verify.
Can your bird get out of the carrier to stretch when you arrive?
Do you have a larger cage to put it into when you arrive?
Can you ship a cage, supplies, food, toy to your destination?
Do you have a harness to let it safely get out of the carrier?
If visiting a friend, will they allow it to get out of the carrier in their home?
Do special precautions need to be taken for its safety at the destination? Are there birds, dogs, or cats around that may harm it?

Summary Concluding Remarks

Traveling with your pet bird can be a fun experience for you and your bird if your plan for your trip. Spending the time planning will reduce your stress levels and your birds stress levels. So plan your trip, grab your bird, go for a ride or a flight and most importantly have some safe fun.

Successful Travel Photography: Do Your Homework

12 Dec

Author: Mark Edenbr
Source: articledashboard.combr
br
How many times have you come back from a trip disappointed with the images youve taken? How many times have you though to yourself If only Id been there an hour early. If only Id known that event was on today. While it is true that hindsight makes everyone smarter, and no one can control the weather, it is possible to maximize your chances of success just by doing a little homework.

Plan your trip
There is a major difference between planning to take photos on your travels, and traveling to take photos. This will be evident in the images you produce. Spend some time researching your destination and its photographic potential. Is it a place affected by the seasons? If so, when is the best time of year to go? How are you going to get there? What is the public transport like? Should you hire a car? Answering these questions can take you a long way to a successful shoot. For example, you may be grateful you decided to get that international drivers license once you get back and look through those beautiful sunset shots you took off a beaten track a few miles from town because you were able to hire a car and drive out there.

There are numerous resources available on the internet and in print, most of them free. An hour or so online can provide a wealth of information, not to mention inspiration. A pocket travel guide can also be an invaluable investment as a reference to have at your fingertips as you go.

Make a shoot list
Think about the locations you want to shoot. Which landmarks do you want to visit? What time of day do they appeal to you? Are you interested in capturing your locations architecture or its culture? Or both? Deciding all of this in advance can give you clear goals to aim for on your trip, rather that simply wandering the streets and shooting whatever you come across that you find appealing. This may prove successful but is more about luck than anything else.

Be flexible
What happens if you get there and the weather suddenly turns sour? Do you wait it out in your hotel room hoping it will pass before you are due to return home? What a waste of time that would be. If you are planning to travel somewhere that can be greatly affected by weather, you might want to think about how you can use this to your advantage. Some subjects can be greatly enhanced by sudden changes to the weather, or even just the threat of it. Imagine missing out on a sweeping panorama of a storm rising over the bay because you were sitting in a room cursing your bad luck.

It is possible for anyone to point a camera at a subject and take a picture. Not all can use that camera to tell a story or teach something to a viewer. Apart from technical skills and, to a much lesser extent, equipment, the difference comes down to planning. The most important factor in the success of your photographic journey is the goals you set for yourself and the steps you take in achieving them./pbr

Safari Travel Tips

12 Dec

Author: Stanley Emerson -br
Source: articledashboard.combr
br
Before stepping on that plane for a marvelous safari adventure, plan like theres no tomorrow. You will thank your self for being precautious when faced with untoward incidents.

Here are the important things you should consider when going on a safari travel:

1. Remember that it is one challenging endeavor.

Planning a safari can be one of the most exciting feats one can ever manage to make happen. It is not one of the generic travels, usual jetsetters indulge in. Though you are provided with a tour brochure and a tourist guide, it still is better to research on your own regarding the various itineraries.

2. Best spots for safari should be spotted.

The most suggested parts of Africa to enjoy safari include East and Central Africa, Southern Africa and Indian Ocean Islands.

3. Prepare for the climate.

It is a must to know the seasonal trends and how they will affect your travel. But also remember that the weather is fickle-minded so you can never really accurately predict the outcome of your travel if you will base it one the weather alone.

If you are going to visit East and Central Africa, long rains start early in April to early June. Short rains abound during late November to December.

Southern Africa has its rainy season from late November through mid-April for the safari areas. However, during that time, it will be summer in Southern Cape.

When one prefers Indian and Ocean Islands he or she can expect the seasonal trend to be more like of that of Southern Africa. In these islands, summer rains last from November through April. Cyclones can also be experienced during those seasons. From May to October, the dry season occurs.

4. Choose your activities.

Among others, safari traveling offers these fun-filled activities:

a. gorilla trekking
b. sailing
c. birdwatching
d. participatory camping
e. self driving

5. Know what you can afford.

When choosing a trip, budget constraints should never be overlooked. Decide on a price range that you can work on. To make your budgeting more effective consider the level of luxury of your safari travel, length of your trip, activities, accommodations preferences, meals and season.

6. Determine your travel style.

Do you prefer your safari to be more luxurious, moderate or rustic? Will you let kids tag along? Are you traveling with a group or will you be one bold, independent traveler? Will you travel by air or road? What about your guide and your vehicle?

Answering those questions will more or less improve your overview of your dream safari travel.

Have fun!/pbr

Tips for Planning a Trip Abroad

10 Dec

Author: Pragya Katariyabr

br
You may be going on a well deserved vacation with your family or planning a honeymoon trip to an exotic locale. While discovering a new destination may seem exciting, keep in a mind a little bit of preparation can make your getaway all the more special. Here are some travel tips that can minimize any unpleasant circumstances that may arise when you are not familiar with the country you are travelling to. Be familiar with the culture and traditions of your destination East is East and West is West and never the twain shall meet. Rudyard Kiplings views may not seem entirely true with the world becoming a global village. There are, however, still differences that must be taken into consideration. ÂIt is better to be acquainted with the culture and traditions of the country you are visiting. For example, you may be travelling to Bali, a country equally well-known for its beautiful landscapes and temples as it is for its warm people. However, keep in mind that you must be suitably dressed to enter a temple. If you go wearing shorts, you may not be allowed to enter. Keeping into consideration facts such as this can make all the difference to your visit. General information about your destination ÂWeather: This will help you decide what you have to pack for the journey and stay. ÂCurrency: No travel trip is complete without shopping and bringing back souvenirs. So it is important to be familiar with the currency, notes and coins and their denominations. Cost of local items: This will help you plan your budget and also give you a rough idea of the costs so that you are not taken for a ride when you go for your shopping expedition. Booking accommodation: Book your accommodation well in advance. This is especially important if you are travelling during the high season and you may find it difficult to get a hotel or guesthouse within your budget. ÂDealing with language problems: Be familiar with common words and phrases to make going around easier. Then again, when commuting from one place to another, do write down the destination and your hotel address in the local language, otherwise the taxi drivers may not understand where you want to go. ÂPaperwork and documents: Know all the documents that are required for travelling to a particular country and ensure all your paperwork is complete so that you dont face hassles once you reach the place. Practical necessities ÂMake two copies of your passport. Keep them in separate places, for example, you can leave one copy in your room and keep another with your friend. Should your passport be lost or stolen, you can use the copy to exit the country or use it to facilitate the replacement process. Email yourself all the important information such as credit card numbers, passport number, your driving license details etc. and anything else that could be of importance if an emergency arises. ÂFinally, run a final checklist before starting your journey. You should have the following: Passport, tickets, car rental and hotel reservation receipts/agreements, credit cards, medications or prescriptions, if required, addresses, password and any other important information that you may need. ÂIf everything is in order, you are all set for a smooth journey abroad. Âbr

Travel Opinions – Key Influences on Tourist Decision Making

10 Dec

Author: Cymen Crickbr
Source: ezinearticles.combr
br
As I sit in the lounge of the backpackers meeting up with travel companions, I am thinking that maybe I should have done things differently. Lets head back to last night, where I was searching through several brochures and deciding on the next days activities. The brochure had photos of beautiful vistas and described the tour as natural and exciting. I was finding this hard to envisage as I looked through the photos on my digital camera of the towns and continual souvenir shops we had visited, without enough time given to enjoy the sights before being hoarded onto the bus with a group of unlike minded people.

My friends, however, had the time of their life. They are babbling to all who will listen about the day they had, swimming with dolphins and taking a harbour cruise, the sights, the excitement. I cant help but be a little jealous….may even put a little more chilli than needed in their food to quiet them down a little. I have saved a lot of money for this trip and its taken me a long time to get here, so it is important for me to make the right decisions and enjoy myself the best I can. If we rewind to last night and the plans we were making, the only difference is that my friends used a well respected travel review site which provided honest and independent opinions about various activities and attractions, as well as accommodation. After having several options planned, they found that one particular activity had consistently great reviews and decided to go with them. Next time, I will do the same.

This is becoming an increasingly familiar scenario in the process of tourists and holidaymakers making their decisions about what activities and attractions to visit, as well as accommodation choices. Those in the tourism industry are realising that holidaymakers and business travellers are going online in increasing numbers in search of information and advice that can be used in the selection of travelling options, as well as reducing the consumer decision set for activities, attractions and accommodation. With this knowledge in hand, the growth of internet based travel opinion and review sites devoted to the discussion and evaluation of travel and tourism offerings has become evident. Adding to this emerging trend is the remarkable credibility associated with web travel reviews by potential guests and customers.

Findings from the Regional Visitor Monitor confirms that New Zealand travellers are increasingly using the internet to not only book tourism related products, but to find consumer and industry reviews and opinions to assist them in the decision making process. Additionally, a key finding in research conducted by Lincoln University investigating the decision making of international tourists while travelling in New Zealand, suggested that social networks are to play a vital role in tourism marketing. The report emphasised that there are many decisions which remain open, such as choice of activities and daily purchasing decisions, which may be heavily influenced through their use of social media and internet sites that contain and promote New Zealand travel opinions and reviews.

Tomorrow, the travelling friends have decided to take a trip together. No surprise that it is based on the suggestions and opinions from a reputable tourism review site, is it?

Airline Travel For the Average Person

The average person who flies today makes their reservations well in advance selecting the best flight times at the lowest cost. Thanks to places like Expedia and other online travel agencies you can be very selective in how you fly and how much you pay. The traveler only needs to be able to have a credit card to make their reservation on a flight suitable to their travel needs. The average person now recognizes the fact that it is necessary to pack light not taking along much luggage. You can buy special luggage meant for traveling on an airplane.

You are only permitted to take along one carryon bag but you can check two bags if you need to and send them on ahead. Most people find the problem of getting their luggage such a hassle that they prefer to only takes along the carryon bag if the trip is a short one. If they are planning on staying for a while most people usually only take one carryon and one checked bag. It is easier to buy some things for yourself after your arrival than it is to try to pack.

You can get many items at a drug store that are travel size and disposable which makes packing easier leaving space for things that are important. The best policy when you are traveling is think do I need this item as soon as I arrive or will I be able to go to the local drug store or convenient store and pick it up.

Travel Nursing – Smooth Ride or Bumpy Road?

09 Dec

Author: Scott Knutsonbr
Source: articleage.combr
br
Travel nursing is an up-and-coming profession that appeals to many nursing professionals for several reasons. Excellent pay and benefits, the chance to travel at the expense of someone else and variety are among the positive points of travel nursing. Sound great? Its not all the bowl of cherries that some believe.
The idea of getting paid to travel appeals to many people. The problem is that we want to have time to take in the sights, relax and enjoy our travels. Travel nursing is similar in some ways to driving a truck. You may get to see some incredible sunsets and view awesome scenery, but youre seldom going to have the opportunity to stop and smell the roses, visit those tourists destinations and take photos (unless you snap them from the window of a moving vehicle). In many cases, those panoramic views will be nothing more than spots from an airplane window.
So whats all the fuss about travel nursing? There are some positive points. You DO get to travel. While its not like a vacation, how many people do you know who have seen the world? Even getting to view Paris, France from a moving vehicle is better than never having seen it at all. And while there are those cases that require every bit of your time and attention, many patients who travel are stable enough to do so. They may also be up for enjoying at least some of the trip and to share the memories of those views – even if theyre all from the inside of a moving vehicle.
Once you get away from the fact that youre traveling and that you may not be seeing as much as youd like, there are some real benefits to traveling nursing. Pay is one of the big benefits. Many companies advertise pay from $25 to $75 per hour, depending on the demands on your time, the amount of experience you can offer and the length of the trip. On the downside, be sure that the money is sufficient. $25 an hour isnt much if youre working three hours and then spending the night waiting for your next assignment.
Aside from the tangible benefits, theres always that goal that health care professionals have to help people in need. Travel nurses become responsible for their patients during a trip. Those trips are sometimes long, difficult journeys. During that time, the travel nurse can literally be the difference between life and death for critically ill patients. But remember that those patients and their families typically have some driving reason for the trip. Perhaps its someone who fell ill during a vacation in another country. Maybe its an opportunity for a better treatment facility or one closer to friends and family. Whatever the purpose, the trip is usually a step toward the hope of a better life. As a travel nurse, you can be part of that.
Theres no doubt that travel nursing provides an excellent opportunity for many, though its not for everyone. If you enter this profession knowing all the facts, you may find that travel nursing is exactly the career move youve been looking for.
